Cross-Enrolled and Transient Students

When do I use this procedure?

A cross-enrolled student is attending two schools at the same time in the same semester. If you are a full time USF student and are taking a course at another school while still taking classes in the same semester at USF, then you are cross-enrolled at the other school. The opposite is true as well.

If you are taking all your courses at another school, then you are a transient student at the other school. So a USF student taking classes at another school is transient at that school. A student from UCF taking all their classes at USF is transient at USF.

Cross-Enroll/Transient Procedure
  1. Go to the College of Arts and Science website to obtain the Cross-Enroll/Transient coversheet. You will need this cover sheet when you turn in your other forms.
  2. Obtain the Transient USF Student form from the Registrar website or the Cross-enrollment form from the Financial Aid website.
  3. Complete your forms and follow the instructions on the form.
Do I need to see an advisor?
  • If you are taking lower level classes at a Florida public school, then you do not need to see your major advisor or have the form signed by the department.
  • If you are taking an upper level (3000 or higher) course at a Florida public university, you need to have the advisor approve the course to ensure that it will count toward your major.
  • If you are taking courses at a private or out of state school, then you must go through the course evaluation procedure described on the Permits pages of this website to ensure that you will receive credit for the course.
