BSC 4910 Undergraduate Research (1-4) AS BIO

For B.S. Biology majors only. Permit required. S/U only. Junior standing and 3.0 Majors GPA, and 3.0 USF GPA required. Individual investigation with faculty supervision. Written contract by Department is necessary prior to registration.

MCB 4905 Microbiology Undergraduate Research (1-4) AS BIO

For B.S. Biology majors only. Permit required. S/U only. Junior standing and 3.0 Majors GPA, and 3.0 USF GPA required. Individual investigation with faculty supervision. Written contract by Department is necessary prior to registration.

Students wishing to conduct undergraduate research for credit should read the FAQ (see link to the right) for more information and the form which includes instructions and contract.

Summer 2008 Undergraduate Research Opportunities

At the moment, all posted opportunities for Summer 2008 are full. Many professors provide a flyer with information about research opportunities in their lab for the current semester, but some do not. Be sure to investigate all the research being conducted by both the Division of Cell Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology and the Division of Integrative Biology faculty. If you see something that interests you, contact the professor via email to see if they have an opportunity in their lab. Use the links on the left for each Division to find the faculty and research.

  • Patrick Bradshaw (PDF) -Cell biology, mouse breeding, subcellular fractionation, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, assays of mitochondrial function, aging studies
  • Lynn (Marty) Martin (PDF) - Capturing birds, taking blood samples, observing behavior, bird husbandry, lab work: ELISA, simple bacteriological assays
  • Jason Rohr (PDF) - Effects of pollution and disease on aquatic communities. Field, library and lab work available.
