B.S. to M.S. Accelerated Degree ProgramRobert Buzzeo

The B.S. to M.S. Accelerated Degree Program allows B.S. majors to take up to 12 credits of graduate courses for the elective part of their B.S. requirements and also apply them to a non-thesis M.S. degree in Biology or Microbiology. Successful students are able to complete the B.S and M.S. degrees in five years. The program shares 12 credits between two degrees/concentrations:

Option One:

  • B.S. in Biology, Concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology
  • M.S in Biology, Concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology (non-thesis degree)

Option Two:

  • B.S. in Microbiology
  • M.S. in Microbiology (non-thesis degree)

Benefits of the accelerated degree program:

This program will appeal to the more competitive Biology major who would benefit professionally from having the M.S. when they enter the job market but do not want to commit to the longer time a thesis M.S. or a Ph.D. program takes to complete. Students entering professions that do not require bench laboratory experience but desire the broadened knowledge base should consider applying. Graduates from this program would be ideally suited for health professions, technology based industry, education and government. Some students interested in doctoral education in the biological or biomedical areas will benefit from this program as well.
