Download Finch TV:

Windows

Mac

Other Platforms: http://www.geospiza.com/ftvdlinfo.html

General Instructions:

  1. Find your data files (.seq and .ab1) below. If needed you can reference the image displaying the sample layout scheme.
    • However, the tables below the image correspond to the layout in the image scheme.
    • For reference, .seq files contain your sequence results and can be opened with any standard text editor (ie Notepad in Windows, TextEdit for Mac), .ab1 files are for viewing the chromatogram and require the Finch TV application.
    • All 96 wells were run through the machine, if a well lacked any sample 10┬Ál of running buffer was run.
  2. Download and uncompress both data files (.seq and .ab1). There is a table for each file type. You can use winrar to uncompress your files.
  3. Open your Text Editor application, go to File -> Open and navigate to your .seq file. Select it and you can now see your sequencing results.
  4. To view your data in chromatogram form:
    1. Download and decompress the Finch TV application using the appropriate link (mac or windows) provided above.
    2. Install Finch TV according to your operating system (ie in windows dbl-click the Setup.Exe file)
    3. When the application opens, drag your datafile (the .ab1 file, a chromatogram file) into the Finch TV window
    4. You will now be able to see the chromatogram in the Finch TV window.
