Bio

I am a full time biology instructor and advisor at USF. While I am not engaged in research, my background from The University of Texas at Dallas is in eukaryotic gene regulation. There, I began studies of a human tissue-specific homolog of the general transcription factor TFIIA under Dr. Jeff DeJong. Other homologs of so called ‘general’ factors have also been discovered in the wake of the human genome project, and current studies are reshaping earlier views of how such factors function in particular cell types or developmental stages.

I currently teach Cell Biology (3023) and Biology I (2010), and supervise the associated labs. In my spare time I also enjoy movies, running, books, history, and other things as well, so if you have an interest in these topics, feel free to e-mail me or drop by my office and say hello. (Actually, the best time to do this is likely during my office hours, which are posted outside my door.) Thanks, and have a good day!
