Tenure Track
The Division of Cell Biology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology (CMM) of the Department
of Biology at the University of South Florida (USF) is searching for a tenured/tenure-track
faculty member at any rank in the general area of Proteomics/Genomics. Applicants
should use proteomics and/or genomics to study some aspect of cellular function
and complement current faculty research in the areas of transcriptional regulation,
signal transduction, genome instability, evolution or development. CMM is affiliated
with USF’s newly established Center of Excellence in Biomolecular Identification
and Targeted Therapeutics (BITT) which will include a proteomics and genomics core
facility.
The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a strong, externally-funded
research program, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and direct Ph.D.
and M.S. graduate students. USF is designated by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research
University/Very High Research Activity and has a rapidly increasing research base
in the biomedical sciences. Opportunities for collaboration exist with the Departments
of Chemistry and Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences, with the USF Colleges
of Medicine, Public Health, and Engineering and with the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center
and Research Institute.

Visiting Instructor
The Division of Cell Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology (CMMB) at the University
of South Florida invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure earning, VISITING
INSTRUCTOR, (9-month appointment;100% teaching assignment) to begin Fall 2008. The
initial appointment for the visiting instructor will be for one year, with the possibility
of renewal for up to three additional years. Summer appointments are possible.
Applicants
must have a Ph.D. in biology or a related discipline at the time of appointment.
Applicants with appropriate background to teach Developmental Biology, Genetics
and/or Cell Biology will be preferred. Experience or interest in development of
innovative, interactive, or on-line approaches to the teaching of large-enrollment
courses is also desirable. Duties may include supervision of graduate TA's and revision
of laboratory exercises. Salary is negotiable.

Florida Center of Excellence for Biomolecular Identification and Targeted Therapeutics
Seeks Seven New Faculty
The Florida Center of Excellence for Biomolecular Identification and Targeted Therapeutics
(FCoE-BITT) at the University of South Florida seeks outstanding candidates for
appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level to enhance basic and translational
research programs. FCoE-BITT is a comprehensive center that enhances interactions
between scientists and engineers to identify molecules of human health significance
and develop novel methods for use in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of human
disease. FCoE-BITT encompasses the full range from discovery to commercialization.
Applicants must have significant research experience and demonstrated ability to
attract federal funding in an area of relevance to FCoE-BITT. Current Center interests
include Drug Discovery, Biomolecular Identification, Molecular Microbiology, Material
Engineering, Proteomics, Structural Biology/Biochemistry and Metabolomics. The Center
is affiliated with the Department of Chemistry and the Division of Cell Biology,
Microbiology, and Molecular Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences, and the
Colleges of Engineering, Medicine, and Public Health. Upon hire, faculty will receive
a primary tenured or tenure earning appointment in an appropriate department, establish
independently-funded cutting edge research programs, and participate in teaching
and training.
Minimum requirements for Associate Professor are an MD or PhD degree with at least
five years of continuous and productive accomplishment as an Assistant Professor
or equivalent. For a Full Professor, a minimum of five years of continuous and productive
accomplishments at the Associate level or equivalent is required.
Successful candidates are expected to have a distinguished record of scholarly activity,
funding at the national level, and teaching experience. Evidence of interdisciplinary
collaboration and translational research programs and the successful mentoring of
graduate, medical, and post-doctoral students are desired. Appropriate applicants
could be considered for the position of FCoE-BITT Director.
